Volunteer

Volunteer for the Event

The Hot Jazz Jubilee depends on a team of dedicated, hard-working volunteers. You too can be a part of this fun and exciting music event that helps perpetuate Jazz in the Sacramento region, and provides performance, education and scholarship opportunities for the next generation of musicians! If you would like to join us, please complete the Volunteer Application below, and our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you.

We Need:

  • Airport Drivers – pick up and return musicians from/to Sacramento International Airport and transport them to their hotel.
  • Team Leaders – (site managers) oversee the music and other venues, and are responsible for shift scheduling and recruiting their own volunteers.
  • Venue Door Greeters – check attendees’ badges; remove items left behind and clean up between music sets.
  • Badge Sales – sell badges and wristbands.
  • Will Call – distribute prepaid badges and information to attendees.

Volunteer Perks

Volunteers who are available to work 12 hours throughout the 4-day festival receive a 4-day general admission badge!

Volunteer Attire

Volunteers are required to wear the official HJJ shirt with appropriate slacks, trousers, or a skirt. Shirts will be given to you at least 2 weeks prior to the festival by your team leader.

What to Expect

Your final schedule will be emailed to you by your team leader no later than 2 weeks before the first day of the festival. Your volunteer location is subject to change if there is a change(s) in music sets, another volunteer calls out sick or another volunteer is unable to work their shift. Volunteers are also responsible to reserve and pay for their own lodging arrangements and travel, as well as meals, beverages, and other miscellaneous expenses.

Please let us know if you have special limitations such as inability to stand for long periods of time, or mobility restrictions which may limit your ability to perform specific tasks. We will make every effort to accommodate your desire to volunteer to the best of our ability.

Volunteers need to update their contact and emergency information each year.

With today’s active lifestyles, people move and change cell phone numbers, email, addresses, and emergency contact information. The yearly, updated volunteer form ensures your updated contact information and shirt size are on file and confirms your intention to participate in our current Hot Jazz Jubilee.
