HJJ Fundraiser Concert Success

The recent fundraising concert featuring trombonist Wycliffe Gordon and reed player Adrian Cunningham was a great success, netting over $3000 for the HJJ Scholarship Fund. Special thanks to Rio Americano High School for the use of their outstanding performing arts center, and to the Sacramento Jazz Education Foundation for their generous sponsorship.
Nearly half the audience was comprised of local students, many of whom sat in on the last tune of the evening.
The deadline to apply for this year’s scholarships is June 15th. Do you know a graduating senior who plans to study music after high school? If so, encourage them to apply!
Second Annual HJJ Scholarship Applications Are Closed
The Hot Jazz Jubilee’s mission is to support the continuation of live music, in part through its Youth Scholarship Fund, which is financed by donations, raffle sales, and a portion of festival profits. The HJJ Music Scholarship supports high school seniors and undergraduates who aspire to study, perform, compose or teach music, thereby helping ensure future generations can enjoy live jazz.
Last year we presented our inaugural awards to three deserving young musicians. This year, the HJJ Board unanimously approved raising the scholarship award to $2000 each. Applications are now open, and will close on June 15th.
Thank you to everyone who has donated to the HJJ scholarship fund and purchased raffle tickets. Your contributions are impacting the lives of young musicians! If you would like to support this great cause, please Donate Here and indicate it is for the Scholarship Fund.
