Dan Barrett –

Dan Barrett began playing the trombone at the age of eleven and the cornet shortly thereafter. In high school he formed his first group, the Back Bay Jazz Band, bringing the joy of early jazz to Southern California audiences. In 1977 he made the first of many trips to Europe, to appear at the Breda International Jazz Festival in Holland. He has since become a welcomed guest at dozens of jazz festivals here and abroad. Dan and his wife, Laura, moved to New York City in 1983. Dan played trombone for a number of motion pictures, and performed five times at Carnegie Hall, including once with Woody Herman and the New York Pops Orchestra, and another time in a tribute to Louis Armstrong featuring Wynton Marsalis. He has recorded under his own name, and as a sideman with many respected jazz artists. In 1996, Dan and his family returned to southern California, where they remained until their recent move to the Sacramento area. Dan continues to tour with various groups,  both as sideman and leader, around the United States and overseas. He is pleased to be spending more and more time performing with his many European and Scandinavian friends. He would love to hear from you at www.DanBarrettMusic.com
